Job Opening: Retail Buyer – Housewares

We are a thriving housewares store dedicated to curating high-quality products for our customers. We’re looking for a talented and experienced Retail Housewares Buyer to join our team and ensure our inventory meets the needs of our valued customers.

Position Overview:

This full-time position is crucial to our success. The ideal candidate will be a responsible, detail-oriented professional with proven experience in retail housewares buying. Your primary goal will be to maintain a well-stocked inventory aligned with customer demand while fostering relationships with vendors and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Utilize our inventory point-of-sale system to pull and analyze reports.
• Evaluate supplier options based on price, quality, and piece count to make the best purchasing decisions.
• Review current inventory and make necessary adjustments in the system.
• Source new inventory through trade show attendance, trade magazine reviews, and customer requests.
• Leverage Buying Group membership to negotiate better deals and opportunities.
• Follow up on purchase orders to ensure accuracy, timely delivery, and compliance with contracts.
• Create and interpret reports to align with budget strategies.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Retail Housewares Buyer or in a related role.
• Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
• Excellent organizational abilities with the capacity to work independently under the guidance and influence of the General Manager.
• Proficiency in market research, data analysis, and forecasting.
• Advanced knowledge of purchasing software, Microsoft Office, and related tools.
• High school diploma required; a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration is a plus.
