Schedule: 40 hours/week | Rotating or Evening Shifts

Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician I works under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists and pharmacy leadership to assist in the preparation, packaging, and distribution of medications. This role plays a critical part in ensuring efficient medication dispensing while maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare medications in accordance with physician orders, including:
• Filling, labeling, packaging, and scanning.
• Mixing ingredients using proper technique and equipment.
• Load and refill automated dispensing machines; maintain inventory.
• Prepare and label IV admixtures using aseptic technique.
• Reconstitute and fill syringes and injectable pharmaceuticals.
• Select prescription items for outpatient services (if trained).
• Use Epic and other pharmacy software to manage medication records and print labels.
• Handle medication delivery to patient care areas including unit dose and IV runs.
• Assist pharmacists with day-to-day operational tasks.
• Act as a pharmacy window receptionist; distribute medications and handle documentation.
• Answer and direct phone calls; relay messages as needed.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Follow all departmental and hospital safety procedures and protocols.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with an examination approved by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.
• Minimum 2 years of pharmacy technician experience.
• Ability to handle cash transactions related to prescription sales.

Preferred:

• Previous hospital pharmacy experience.

Schedule Breakdown

• Evening Shifts (2 Positions):
• Start times vary between 2:30 PM – 3:00 PM, ending at 11:00 PM – 11:30 PM.
• Rotating Shift (1 Position):
• Includes day shifts (e.g., 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, etc.) with potential coverage for evening shifts.

• Relocation assistance available for candidates residing more than two hours from the worksite.
