ProspectBlue is partnered with a local community bank seeking a Chief Product Officer to join its growing team Richmond, Virginia.

Job Summary : The Chief Product Officer (CPO) is a newly created position that will lead the strategic development and management of the bank's product portfolio, ensuring alignment with the institution’s mission to serve its community. This role focuses on innovation, growth, and operational excellence across all deposit, loan, digital banking, and ancillary financial products. The CPO will drive product strategy, oversee the lifecycle management of all offerings, and work cross-functionally to deliver exceptional customer experiences and achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities :

Product Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and execute the bank’s product strategy, aligning with organizational goals and community needs.
  • Identify market opportunities and emerging trends to develop competitive products and services.
  • Lead the product roadmap to deliver value across retail, commercial, and digital banking channels.

Product Development & Innovation

  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of new products and services, ensuring scalability and profitability.
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives to enhance online and mobile banking platforms.
  • Leverage customer feedback, market data, and industry trends to continuously innovate and improve product offerings.

Financial Performance & Risk Management

  • Collaborate with the CFO to set pricing strategies and ensure profitability of the product portfolio.
  • Monitor product performance metrics and adjust strategies to meet financial targets.
  • Partner with risk management teams to ensure products comply with regulatory requirements.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing product team, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Work closely with marketing, sales, and operations teams to ensure seamless product launches and adoption.
  • Act as the primary liaison with technology partners to align product capabilities with customer needs.

Community Engagement & Customer Focus

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the community bank’s customer base and unique market dynamics.
  • Ensure products align with the bank’s mission to support local economic development and financial inclusion.
  • Represent the bank in industry forums and community initiatives to advocate for customer needs.

Qualifications :

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Proven track record of developing and managing profitable product portfolios.
  • Experience in digital banking, fintech, or related technology-driven financial solutions is highly desirable.
