Job Title: Cybersecurity Specialist

Location: Irvine, CA

Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000

About the Role:

Our client is seeking a dedicated Cybersecurity Specialist to take ownership of their cybersecurity functions. This role involves managing cybersecurity activities, implementing NIST 800-171 requirements, and overseeing cloud environments. You will collaborate with various departments to implement solutions and maintain a robust compliance program, ensuring the organization is protected from threats and vulnerabilities and meets customer and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage key cybersecurity functions such as incident response, security assessment, risk assessment, and change and configuration control.
  • Maintain and update documentation, including System Security Plans, Plans of Action & Milestones, Bodies of Evidence, and Company Policies.
  • Design and guide the implementation of architecture, networking, configuration settings, and software solutions to enhance security in on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for cybersecurity standards and best practices, advising internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Facility Security, IT, and DevOps teams to ensure compliance with government and customer cybersecurity requirements.
  • Conduct security training for company personnel.
  • Scan for system vulnerabilities and malware, identify unauthorized access or cyber incidents, and report them.
  • Perform audits of systems events, software and hardware inventory, user access, and other records to identify noncompliance or potential attacks.
  • Recommend and implement solutions to address vulnerabilities or incidents of noncompliance in on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Manage access control and authentication for devices in a distributed workforce and across various environments.
  • Stay informed about threats, known vulnerabilities, and attack patterns, and communicate risks to the company.
  • Perform technical cybersecurity functions, including hardening systems, conducting forensic investigations, locking down non-essential programs, configuring security settings, enforcing encryption, and performing system security testing.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Active security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Familiarity with the NIST 800-171 security framework or a similar standard.
  • Knowledge of AWS or equivalent cloud security architectures and configurations.

Desired:

  • At least 2 years of experience in aerospace, defense, or a similar critical infrastructure sector.
  • One or more certifications, such as Security+, CISSP, CEH, or AWS Certified Security Certifications.

Physical Requirements:

This role primarily operates in an office environment and requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods and frequent walking. Daily use of a computer, phone, office equipment, and other digital devices is necessary. Some local travel may be required. The ability to travel by plane, operate a motor vehicle, and maintain a valid driver's license or navigate public transportation is essential.
