Job Description

As a Fleet Mechanic, you'll play a key role in keeping our operations running smoothly by maintaining and repairing our heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment. Your work ensures our drivers can safely and reliably serve the community by delivering essential waste and environmental services. From routine maintenance to complex repairs, you'll help keep the fleet in top condition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues in diesel and CNG-powered vehicles.
  • Conduct routine inspections on brake systems, engines, emissions, steering, and other critical components.
  • Perform test drives to identify and confirm mechanical issues.
  • Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and repair electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Carry out DOT and brake inspections in compliance with safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts ordered, and inspections completed.
  • Follow daily work schedules and complete tasks assigned by supervisors or senior technicians.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Participate in ongoing training to enhance technical skills and knowledge.

Education, Training, Experience and Licensing/Certification Requirements

  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and other related state and federal regulations
  • Ability to communicate effectively across various levels of the organization and communicate with customers and external vendors.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals.
  • Experience using diagnostic software is preferred. Must be computer literate and willing and able to be trained in software systems.
  • Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.
  • ASE certifications beneficial.
  • 3+ years of diesel and CNG (where applicable)
