Position: Director of Engineering

Salary: $150K – $200K / Year

  • Financial Oversight: Develop and manage department budgets, analyze costs, and participate in monthly P&L meetings.
  • Leadership & Communication: Serve on the Executive Committee, collaborate with senior leaders, and oversee Engineering staff recruitment, training, and performance.
  • Facilities & Maintenance: Ensure the hotel’s building systems, equipment, and infrastructure are well-maintained, implementing preventative maintenance programs.
  • Guest Service Support: Address and resolve room maintenance requests efficiently to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce OSHA regulations, ADA compliance, and company safety standards.
  • Vendor & Inventory Management: Oversee procurement, vendor contracts, and inventory of parts and supplies.
  • Technical Operations: Manage HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, and mechanical systems. Oversee repairs, carpentry, and locksmith tasks.
  • Property Inspections: Conduct routine walk-throughs, ensuring all systems operate efficiently.
  • Special Projects: Assist with renovations and other capital improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of training as an Engineer.
  • At least 3 years of facilities management in a resort experience or multi unit/outlet experience.
  • Working knowledge of local and national plumbing codes, local and national electrical codes, local and national /local fire codes, local mechanical codes, local and national water treatment programs and blueprints, and plumbing and wiring schematics.
  • Power and hand tools, meters, etc. as it relates to the technical trades
  • Knowledge of all mechanical equipment critical to the operation of the building.
  • Strong verbal and written communication in English.
  • Provide legible communication and directions.
  • Compute basic to advanced mathematical calculations (heating and cooling loads, power calls, etc.).
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive and working relationships with the Executive Committee, employees, and other departments.
  • Ability to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil rights, occupational safety and health, and wage and hour issues.

  • Understanding: Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions according to established procedures.
  • Comprehension: Fluent in the English language
  • Organizational Skills: Work efficiently, utilize multi-tasking, prioritize tasks
  • Hygiene and Sanitation: Adherence to uniform, grooming, and personal hygiene standards and expectations per SOP.
  • Punctuality: Adherence to posted schedule and arrival time and attendance at mandatory meetings when scheduled
  • Responsibility: Personal comportment in line with Standard, New York policies, standards, and expectations
