Wanna be a DJ? You must have a passion for music—like a deep, broad knowledge of it. Not knowing the latest Sabrina Carpenter hit? Not a deal breaker—that’s teachable. But taste? That’s gotta be pretty dope . We’ll train you extensively, but some DJ or playlist-making experience ( radio/bars/clubs/parties/weddings ) is preferred.

It’s fun here, but with great fun comes great responsibility.

• Availability & Commitment: You’ll need to commit to at least four (4) events per month , including weekends and holidays — this is the job . Events are scheduled up to two years in advance , and once you commit, you’re locked in.
• Client Meetings: Clients often prefer nights and weekends for meetings. While you set your own availability, you must be flexible when needed and proactively ensure meetings get scheduled .
• Independence & Mobility: You need a valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation — no drop-offs, rideshares, or public transit. You may need to leave events to handle last-minute issues, so being mobile is non-negotiable.
• Physical Requirements: You must be able to lift 50 lbs or more and handle all setup and teardown alone . Toast & Jam does not set up your gear for you. Also, our insurance only covers employees, not family or friends , so you cannot bring others to help you.
• Professionalism: Events are high-stakes— no second chances. Pre-production requires daily attention. You’ll need to write clear, grammatically correct emails ( no emojis, please ) and handle client interactions professionally.

You’ll be an employee, not a freelancer. We manage over 500 events a year —major opportunities for growth. Major. Like, this could be your forever job.

• Meet with prospective clients to discuss their wedding details, including scheduling weeknights, weekends, and occasional weekdays as needed .
• Commit to at least 4 weddings per month during peak season and book out up to 2 years in advance .
• Fully manage client communication, scheduling, and event execution from introduction to completion.
• Independently transport, set up, and tear down DJ gear— Toast & Jam does not set up your gear for you .
• Drive to events , including nighttime travel in the tri-state area; must have a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable personal transportation .
• Troubleshoot and problem-solve on the fly without failure.
• Maintain professionalism and teamwork at all events, including managing event timelines and coordinating with other vendors.
• Manage your own calendar, appointments, and client communications via email and phone, professionally and promptly.
• Read the dance floor, adapt to client preferences, and play to diverse audiences using your broad music knowledge.
• Serve as event emcee , confidently speaking on a microphone.
• Work a variety of events , not just weddings.
• Be a strong ambassador for the Toast & Jam brand .

• 21+ years old
• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable vehicle
• Professional, proactive, punctual, reliable, detail-oriented, and organized
• Physically capable of lifting & carrying 50+ lbs independently
• Available weekends and evenings , with timely responses to emails and client inquiries
• Strong interpersonal skills, public speaking confidence, and ability to command a room
• Prior DJ experience preferred but not required —we’ll train you!
• Broad musical knowledge and ability to adapt to different crowds
• Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable
• A solid sense of humor is a must
