Job Purpose:

The ideal candidate will be experienced in handling a wide range of Quality Assurance and support related tasks, will be a fast learner and will be able to work independently with little or no supervision. This person must be exceedingly well organized, flexible and enjoy the challenges of supporting diverse people and programs. The ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial to this role. Attention to details, reporting both verbally and written are essential in this position.

Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skill & Abilities:

• Aware and respectful of Safety and regulations pertaining to U. S. Silica
• Performs various testing of standardized ISO and ASTM test methods
• Maintain the QA Lab and sample storage areas in a clean and orderly manner
• Collects in-process / finished product samples from the process areas
• When required resamples packaged finished products
• Performs required activities such as processing sample requests
• Perform calibrations on analytical equipment within the bounds of the Quality Management System
• Serves as backup resource for direct rail and bag shipment activities at the plant – processing rail and bag orders within the JDE / BNSF systems
• Additional duties as assigned

Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skill & Abilities:

• High School Diploma
• 1 – 5 years of industrial experience with the preference given to people that have worked in a research and development environment.
• Basic analytical experience
• Proficient computer skills
• Able to work effectively with others, across functions, Customer Services, Logistics, and customer base.
• Flexible with schedule to accommodate peaks and valleys in workload, including weekends.
• Self-motivated and ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks
• Work well under high pressure with an extreme level of confidentiality.
• Ability to work under pressure in a very demanding environment with a variety of personality types
