Job Description

MEND Psychiatry is seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Administrative Assistant to join our healthcare team. As a Medical Administrative Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive administrative support to our mental health and addiction services organization. Your expertise in medical administration duties and client service will contribute to the effective delivery of patient care and support our mission to improve the lives of individuals struggling with mental health and addiction.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist patients with empathy and respect, ensuring a supportive and comfortable environment.
  • Schedule and coordinate patient appointments, including doctor’s visits for assessments and follow-up visits, utilizing electronic scheduling systems effectively.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring accuracy and compliance across record types.
  • Collect and verify patient insurance information
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to coordinate and facilitate the correct care delivery model for each client.
  • Assist in coordinating referrals to external resources, such as community organizations, support groups, or other medical facilities.
  • Provide administrative support to the clinical team, including managing phone calls, responding to inquiries, and transparent communication at all times.
  • Adhere to medical and HIPAA regulations, confidentiality guidelines, and safety protocols.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized office environment.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree or additional training in medical administration is required.
  • Proven experience as a Medical Administrative Assistant or in a similar role within mental health or addiction services.
  • Familiarity with outpatient mental health and addiction treatment terminology, assessment tools, and treatment planning.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and nonjudgmental approach.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and standard office software; experience with Nextgen Office preferred.
  • Ability to maintain HIPAA confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Salary and Benefits:

We offer competitive compensation ranging from $32,500 to $42,500, exceptional benefits, and a supportive work environment dedicated to professional growth and development.
