Salary: $34-38 per hour (ASCP Medical Laboratory Scientist) / $28-32 per hour (Medical Laboratory Technician)
(10% shift differential for night shift)
Work Schedule:
During Training:
Monday- Thursday 6am-5pm
After Training:
Wednesday - Saturday, 8:00pm - 6:30am (10% shift differential for night shift)
OR
Monday- Thursday with rotating weekend 6am-5pm
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Scientist specializing in Microbiology to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing complex microbiological tests and procedures, including detection, identification, and analysis of microorganisms. This position offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge laboratory technology and contribute to high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
• Microbiological Testing: Perform a wide range of microbiological tests such as culture and sensitivity testing, molecular diagnostics, serology, and microscopic examination.
• Identification & Classification: Identify and classify bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites using advanced microbiological techniques.
• Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Operate and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
• Quality Control: Ensure accuracy and precision in test results by performing meticulous quality control procedures.
• Troubleshooting: Resolve technical problems related to laboratory equipment and test procedures.
• Collaboration: Work with healthcare professionals to discuss test results and their implications for patient care.
• Support: Provide technical expertise and support to other laboratory staff and trainees.
• Procedure Development: Develop and modify laboratory procedures as necessary.
• Proficiency Testing: Participate in proficiency testing and monitor programs to ensure test accuracy.
• Confidentiality: Adhere to HIPAA policies and regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
• Administrative Duties: Provide excellent customer service to patients, clients, and employees, and perform administrative duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must be authorized to work in the US.
• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
• Licensure: ASCP, NCA, AMT, or equivalent; or eligibility to sit for the licensing exam in Oregon.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in a Microbiology Department.
