Modem DSP Engineer - Onsite - Los Angeles, CA

We're looking for a Modem DSP Engineer to help advance next-gen RF products for critical space and defense applications. With expertise in AI, cloud computing, communications, and embedded systems, the team delivers flexible, high-performance platforms. You’ll design and integrate signal processing algorithms for diverse communication systems, collaborating with FPGA, software, hardware, and test teams to develop and deploy advanced waveforms in dynamic environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the full lifecycle of DSP algorithms, from initial analysis and modeling to FPGA implementation and field deployment
• Develop floating and fixed-point modeling frameworks using MATLAB, Python, or C++ to enhance algorithm development and implementation
• Collaborate with FPGA and software engineers to ensure high fidelity between models and real-world performance
• Work alongside hardware, software, and test engineers to enable rapid integration and deployment

Required Skills:

• Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, and C++ for DSP modeling
• Strong understanding of modem DSP concepts, including framing/deframing, pulse shaping, acquisition/tracking loops, spread spectrum techniques, and automatic gain control (AGC)
• Experience with channel coding techniques such as Convolutional, Reed-Solomon, LDPC, and Turbo codes
• Ability to analyze and mitigate channel impairments, including low SNR conditions, Doppler effects, multipath interference, and jamming
• Familiarity with FPGA implementation for DSP algorithms

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience designing waveforms from the ground up
• In-depth knowledge of satellite communication standards (e.g., CCSDS, DVB-S2X)
• Expertise in adaptive coding and modulation techniques
• Experience developing LPI/LPD waveforms for contested environments
• Familiarity with SystemVerilog or VHDL
• Hands-on experience with GNU Radio
