Job Description :
The Tyagi Lab at the University of Louisville is seeking a postdoctoral candidate to investigate cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the pathophysiology of neurological diseases, such as ischemia stroke and Alzheimer’s disease, and identify novel therapeutic targets for these devastating diseases with a focus on the role of epigenetic regulation, microRNAs, gut-microbiota and exosome on protein regulation and degradation. The candidate should be highly self-motivated and be able to lead a research project. The candidate is expected to participate in writing manuscripts and scientific reports. The candidate should be able to design, execute and troubleshoot experiments and to analyze and interpret results independently. Candidate should have hands-on experience on surgical focal/global ischemia model/or MCAO model is desired. Excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills are essential.
Research Focus :
The successful candidate will utilize advanced unbiased omics approaches—including RNA-Seq, PRO-Seq, ChIP-Seq, and transcriptome—to identify and characterize genetic and epigenetic alterations that contribute to the relationship between proinflammatory signaling and ischemic brain injury. Functional validation will involve both in vitro and in vivo models (middle cerebral artery occlusion), including brain endothelial/microglial cell lines and patient-derived organoids (PDOs).
