About the Company

The Purchasing Manager directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in purchasing and distributing raw materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies in organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

About the Role

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the purchasing activities and ensuring that materials are procured efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Locate and evaluate new materials and suppliers of materials
  • Prepare instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders and change notices
  • Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and prepare market analysis reports plus adjust inventory levels as the market fluctuates
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy
  • Review shop drawings and blueprints for the purpose of installing hardware into the manufactured product
  • Review materials specified by Engineering as to their functionality in the final product
  • Develop and install clerical and office procedures and practices, and study work flow, sequence of operations, and office arrangement to determine expediency of installing new or improved office machines
  • Arrange for disposal of surplus materials
  • Evaluate purchased materials vs job estimates and reports discrepancies to management
  • Review production schedules and insure that materials are available when needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree, or 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Skills

  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in purchasing and supply chain management
