ABOUT REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT

Our real estate development team, operating under our NHT Communities (NHTC) business line, develops and preserves housing that is healthy, safe and affordable for all people. Since 1999, NHTC has participated in the preservation and development of more than 10,000 affordable units nationwide. Today, we have an ownership interest in over 3,500 units in 30 properties in 12 states and the District of Columbia. Our current development pipeline includes 449 units under construction and over 900 units in closing prep, underwriting and due diligence. While we focus our development activity in the Mid-Atlantic region, the footprint of our real estate portfolio extends from Connecticut to Georgia and as far west as Chicago.

POSITION

The Real Estate Coordinator reports to the Managing Director of Real Estate and provides administrative and operational support to the Managing Director and operational support to the Real Estate team including development, asset management, and sustainability. The core functions of the Real Estate Coordinator include, but are not limited to, data management, cross-team communication, internal project management, preparing and assembling materials for NHTC board meetings, as well as completing other ad-hoc requests of the Managing Director. 

This position requires a self-starter with strong organizational and project management skills. This includes assessing the efficacy of current systems and structures for department operations and proposing new functional processes that improve efficiency and support sustainable growth of the business line. The Coordinator will apply project management, business analysis, communication, and problem-solving skills to support the team in managing the operational advancement of the development activities and portfolio reporting. Someone who can anticipate organizational needs, work efficiently under pressure, and manage thorough and timely communication will succeed in this role. This position is DC-based and qualifies for a hybrid work schedule at NHT’s office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the operational execution of key internal business initiatives in conjunction with the Managing Director of Real Estate. 
  • Help implement a project management software tool for the team.
  • Act as an administrator to the project management software utilized by the team. Administrator duties include but are not limited to managing fields and objects, overseeing data integrity, conducting training, maintaining dashboards and reports, and updating the user guide. Key data areas include DC Building Energy Performance, the Better Climate Challenge, construction lien waivers, and development pipeline data, which support board reporting and third-party dashboards.
  • Support the Managing Director with the preparation and distribution of NHTC Board materials
  • Support the Managing Director and the team with tracking NHTC cash management.
  • Track and maintain records for NHTC memberships and associated dues. 
  • Support the Real Estate Development team with assembling financing applications, completing closing check lists, and responses to Notices of Funding Opportunities and Requests for Proposals
  • Maintain and update as necessary NHTC promotional materials (e.g. corporate bio, project summaries, board list, references, etc.).
  • Support the Managing Director with the management of the Internal Review Committee including scheduling, securing presentation materials from the team, recording and distributing meeting notes and follow ups.
  • Serve as the point of contact for all signature requests of the Managing Director and NHTC officers.
  • Manage the document version control and of the Real Estate Investment Policy and associated standards and checklists.
  • Serve as the Real Estate team’s representative to NHT’s Technology Advisory Group.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Management Director based on organizational needs and priorities.

  • 5 years’ experience as an executive assistant, program/project assistant, or similar
  • Strong computer aptitude skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Programs.
  • Prior experience with Smartsheet, Salesforce, Monday, or other project management tools.
  • Detail-oriented, entrepreneurial self-starter
  • Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, including verbal and written communication.
  • Innovative thinker, creative problem solver; quickly identifies and resolves customer issues.

COMPENSATION

Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range for this position is $53,350 to $88,890.
