Job Post – Pine Ridge Special Education Coordinator

We’re hiring a Special Education Coordinator to serve as a key member of the leadership team at Pine Ridge School, a Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) K–12 school serving approximately 600 students in Pine Ridge, South Dakota.

This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring high-quality educational outcomes for students with disabilities while maintaining full compliance with IDEA and BIE regulations. The Coordinator will lead and support special education teachers, related-service providers, and school administrators in creating equitable and effective student services.

Position Highlights:

• Schedule: 260-day calendar, aligned with the school year
• Location: On-site at Pine Ridge School, Pine Ridge, SD
• Employment Type: 1099 contractor or full-time employee with benefits (candidate preference)
• Start Date: Flexible; earliest January 2026 — will consider August 2026 start
• Compensation: $100,000 – $130,000 annually
• Contract Length: 1 year base, with up to 2 option years
• Sign-On Bonus: $3,000
• Travel & Housing: Stipends available for relocation or commuting support

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all special education programs, services, and case management
• Ensure compliance with IDEA, BIE, and federal regulations
• Supervise the development and implementation of IEPs
• Coordinate Child Find processes and evaluation timelines
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development to special education staff
• Collaborate with school leadership, teachers, and related service providers
• Serve as the liaison between Pine Ridge School, BIE, and external agencies

Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Special Education or School Psychology
• Valid state licensure in Special Education or School Psychology
• Minimum 3–5 years of leadership experience in a school special education setting
• Strong knowledge of IDEA, IEP compliance, and multidisciplinary collaboration
• Prior experience with BIE or Tribal schools is preferred
