We’re Hiring: Senior Avionics/Flight Hardware Engineer – El Segundo, CA (On-Site)

Our client, a venture-backed defense technology startup , is revolutionizing low-cost cruise missile technology . We’re looking for a high-impact Avionics/Flight Hardware Engineer to help architect and integrate cutting-edge guidance, navigation, and communication systems for next-generation autonomous weapon systems.

What You’ll Do

• Design and integrate avionics subsystems: flight computers, power distribution, GPS, INS, Data Link/Satcom, and IIR sensors
• Develop and test flight hardware for guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) systems
• Work with vendors to source and integrate aviation-grade avionics components
• Implement real-time embedded systems for mission-critical applications
• Lead HIL/SIL testing and ensure compliance with MIL-STD-1553, DO-254, DO-160
• Collaborate with propulsion, GNC, and airframe teams to optimize performance

What We’re Looking For

• 6-10 years of avionics hardware development experience (aerospace, defense, UAVs)
• Strong expertise in GPS, INS, Data Link/Satcoms, and flight computers
• Experience with Weapons Open Systems Architecture (WOSA) is a plus
• Hands-on experience with PCB design, power distribution, and embedded systems (C/C++, VHDL, Verilog)
• Background in HIL/SIL testing and aerospace regulatory compliance
• Prior experience at defense primes (Lockheed, Northrop, Raytheon, etc.) or high-growth aerospace startups
