Job Description and Duties

Working under the supervision of a Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor in Special Crews, the Caltrans Landscape Maintenance Worker performs miscellaneous laboring duties in conjunction with the maintenance and repair of State highways and landscapes. The incumbent will work individually or with a crew. May be loaned to another crew.

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Caltrans Landscape Maintenance Worker  exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.  To apply for the exam, please click and search by typing in the classification title.

Working Conditions

Position located at 5065 Mtn. Lakes Blvd., Redding, Shasta County.

This is a designated travel crew requiring travel out of town on a per diem basis up to 80% of the year.

New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) a valid California Drivers License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.
• The position(s) require(s) a Drug Screening be passed prior to being hired.

• Employee will operate vehicles requiring a Class C driver’s license.
