Title: Automation Maintenance Technician
Location: Sparks, MD
Shift: C Shift 6:00-AM - 6:00-PM - Friday - Sunday
Pay Rate: $35.12 plus diff and weekend pay = $38.98 total pay hourly on W2
Job Summary:
- Performs routine set up, operation, minor and major routine maintenance, preventative maintenance (PM) and troubleshooting of highly complex/automated manufacturing equipment. Responsibilities include production, quality, downtime and waste levels of machine operation. Perform mechanical, pneumatic and electrical maintenance (including preventive) repairs, adjustments, inspection and monitoring of production and/or facilities related equipment and machinery.
- Uses judgment and consultation to analyze, troubleshoot and repair complex equipment and machinery.
- Must project positive attitude with good team skills. Effectively works in a team setting, supporting team goals and objectives.
- Make effective decisions relative to position requirements. Uses judgment to plan, perform, make decisions, troubleshoot and problem solve in performance of all maintenance tasks.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs routine set up, operation, minor and major routine maintenance, preventative maintenance (PM) and troubleshooting of highly complex/automated manufacturing equipment. Controls and adjusts machine settings.
- Responsibilities include production, quality, downtime and waste levels of machine operation. Perform mechanical, pneumatic and electrical maintenance (including preventive) repairs, adjustments, inspection and monitoring of production and/or facilities related equipment and machinery.
- Uses judgment to plan, perform, make decisions, troubleshoot and problem solve in performance of all maintenance tasks.
- Prioritizes daily work assignments to meet production needs and department goals.
- Responsible for preventive maintenance scheduling, completion of work orders and tasks as assigned.
- Supports installation and removal of equipment, and performance of required corrective maintenance.
- Consistent presence in production departments. Monitors the production lines and proactively evaluates equipment performance for repairs and continuous improvement.
- Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude to complete changeover of equipment and some operator level preventive maintenance.
- Assist with root-cause analysis activities for process or product exceptions.
- Checks work using prescribed gauges, jig and fixtures to measure close tolerances.
- Ensures accurate documentation of all relevant quality, safety and maintenance documents.
- To be done in conjunction with Engineering, Quality and Production supervision:
- Organizes, executes and directs improvement projects to increase equipment utilization.
- Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves complex issues associated with the machine performance and/or product quality.
- Advises on proper content of PM task list and frequency of execution.
- Assists with the installation, debug, and start-up of all new or modified production equipment.
- Works with general supervision.
- Works with external contractors and vendor as needed
- Demonstrates the ability to follow established procedures according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Must follow all housekeeping policies and procedures
- Must follow all safety policies and procedures
- Must be able to work overtime as required to meet business requirements
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED & Certificate and 2 years of experience in relevant field
- High School Diploma or GED with 4 years relevant experience required
- Relevant Fields: Electrical / Electronics Technician, Electromechanical Technician, Mechanical Engineering Technician, Industrial Programmer, Electrician, Machine Builder / Repairer, Machinist, Refrigeration Mechanic, Welding Repairer
Knowledge/Basic Skills:
- Time management skills required to ensure all tasks are completed without delay
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills required to work with various teams
- Mechanical, pneumatic and electrical skills, must analyze, troubleshoot and repair complex equipment and machinery.
- Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, diagrams and equipment specifications.
- Flexible and adaptable in working with/on a variety of equipment, processes, projects or assignments.
- Understanding and use of trades mathematics, calibration techniques, and precision measuring instruments essential.
- Constant mental and visual attention performing moderately complex work requiring close limits of accuracy and tolerances.
- Must be knowledgeable in the following areas
- Use of a PC including MS Excel & MSWord.
- Demonstrate mechanical aptitude
- Demonstrate electrical aptitude
- Demonstrate hydraulics, pneumatics aptitude
- Ability to use multimeter
- Sensor technology
- Basic plumbing (fluid and pneumatic)
- Power transmission (gear box, motors, belt and chain drives)
- Basic machining
- Electrical troubleshooting of circuits from low level signals up to 480 VAC.
- Additional experience PREFERRED:
- Troubleshooting of Industrial Control Systems (instrumentation, ladder logic, relay logic, vfd, servo etc.)
- Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency of PLC operations, robotics, and vision systems.
- Mechanical design (AutoCad, Solidworks, etc.)
- SAP maintenance module or equivalent computerized system (welding)
- Basic skills in use of mill, lathe, welding, bearing press
