Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Negotiate procurement terms, balancing cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
  • Investigate and propose supplier solutions based on company needs.
  • Maintain MRP system data, including lead times, pricing, and vendor material numbers.
  • Support supplier localization efforts, including identification, RFQs, onboarding, and FAI.
  • Collaborate with engineering and suppliers to resolve specification and material substitution queries.
  • Ensure compliance with UL and other technical requirements related to assigned commodities.
  • Resolve Accounts Payable invoice discrepancies with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Manage and coordinate engineering change orders (ECOs) within procurement and engineering teams.
  • Analyze performance metrics to drive efficiency and cost savings.
  • Mentor junior buyers to support departmental goals.

Experience Required

  • Minimum 2-3 years of purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with MRP and supply chain management software (Great Plains preferred).
  • Proven track record in procurement, supplier management, and cost analysis.

Skills & Certifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for reporting and decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across departments and suppliers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel (pivot tables, advanced functions), and PowerPoint.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented team player.

Eligibilities & qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience required.
  • Ability to independently manage procurement tasks and supplier relationships.
